Booking & payment
Members pay no deposit. Your card is saved when you book and nothing is charged until the day before delivery, when the estimated rental plus California sales tax is charged to that card. Rates are member rates and include 8 meter hours per day and 40 per week; additional hours are billed at 10% of the daily rate per hour.
Verification
Before delivery, the renter must either complete identity verification (government photo ID matching the name on the payment card) or submit an active California CSLB contractor license for their business. Actor Labs may request a certificate of insurance or decline a rental at its discretion at no charge.
Membership
Your first month of Actor Fleet membership is free. After that it is $499 per month, billed to the card on file, and covers member rates, no-deposit booking, the monitoring service, delivery, and pickup. Cancel anytime; the current month is not refunded. The free month applies once per customer.
Delivery
Delivery and pickup are included with membership within our service area (San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, Solano, Sonoma, Santa Cruz counties). The site must be accessible to a truck and trailer; a dry run caused by an inaccessible site is billed at cost.
Cancellation
Cancel 48 hours or more before delivery at no charge. Inside 48 hours a dispatch fee of 10% of the estimated rental is charged to the card on file. Rentals can be extended by contacting fleet@labs.actor.
Protection plan
The optional protection plan is 15% of rental charges and limits your responsibility for accidental damage to 10% of the repair cost, up to $500. It excludes misuse, theft without a police report, and operation outside the delivery site. Contractors may waive it with a certificate of insurance naming Actor Labs as additional insured and loss payee with rented-equipment coverage at replacement value.
Fuel, cleaning, damage
Machines are delivered full; return full or fuel is billed at the posted rate plus a service fee. Excessive mud, concrete, or paint is cleaned at cost. The renter is responsible for the equipment from delivery until pickup.
Data
Actor machines carry telemetry and cameras used for safety, support, and research. Operating data from the rental may be used to improve Actor's autonomy systems.
